There is a really great informational site about drug abuse and addiction, drugabuseclinic.org/ addiction-treatment.html?utm_source= ans &utm_medium= pv &utm_campaign= rcx… you can find helpful information about the causes and symptoms of a particular drug addiction, as well as the treatment options that are available. Also, there is a toll-free helpline, 1-800-714-8354 which you can call, and speak to a trained professional who will be able to help answer any questions you may have and will help to come up with next steps to get yourself back on the right track and on the road to recovery. I hope this was helpful!

You can help them by being detached from all of it and impersonal so you don't get hurt.Narc Anon is the best bet with regular meetings and sometimes every day attendance until they stay clean. This can take years so be by their side while going to meetings as a support system.

You can talk to them about all of the rehab possibilities, suggest to them about NA meetings. Tell them they are not running away from their problems, they are just creating more for theirself. It is important for you to know that you can not help that person until they become willing to help themselves. My best advice to you is to talk to them about different treatments let them know you will be there for them. Pray for them!!!

Hey man I just wanted to say a couple of things. Consequences and jail and all that crap, none of it will get someone with a meth addiction clean. They have to really want to be clean more than anything. Like the other person said it could take years of multiple attempts and they may die from drug overdose. You can't make it your fault if it doesn't work out. I second narcotics anonymous. Also don't feel like other people aren't going through this. I saw a lady in walmart today and I would bet everything i'm ever going to own that she is a meth addict based on various clues about her appearance.

If it's not a relative, as in it's someone you can remove from your life, I suggest you consider just that. You can try to confront them and threaten to cut them out of your life but a meth addiction is a strong one and you'll probably have to deal with a lot of broken promises and disappointment. Best to walk away now. If it is a relative and it's someone you can't just walk away from, I suggest you expose the meth addiction to relatives and friends and try to form a common front against this person's addiction. Get everyone to not provide money, shelter, transportation or anything that enables the addiction. With all the exposure, it's possible this person may realize they have nowhere to hide and take positive steps at recovery. Otherwise, be prepared to watch this person walk away.
