Meth sores are caused by a lack of hygiene, excess oil production, bad diet and lack of sleep. Meth dehydrates the body causing it to pull all of the fluids from the skin, causing the skin to look a dull/ greyish color. A general lack of personal hygiene is also attributable to the problem. The "itching " you're thinking of is from the adverse affects on the brain. High doses or long term use increases the risk of stimulant psychosis. A common manifestation of psychosis is called "delusional parasitosis " where the user is convinced there are bugs crawling on or under their skin, so they try and pick them out. This results in open sores on the surface of the skin which take longer to heal as the body is malnourished, dehydrated and not allowed the time to recover during sleep.

Generally it makes you look like you have bad acne, or you scratch the itch and get a scar. It also rots your teeth and over time that disfigures your face.

The chemicals come out in your sweat and can clog your pores as well as make you smell like cat urine. Typical meth-head damage to the face is done by the meth-head by constantly picking at it. They will turn a minor blemish into a suspirating sore merely because they cannot leave it alone.
